By Marguerite Smith

  DECEMBER 8, 2024 --

On November 14 we conducted our monthly meeting at the grange and discussed several topics. Repair of the grange building - reviewed all of the recent work - painting the outside, new stairs, attic insulation, etc. You name it, we’ve had it done and the building is in top shape for all sorts of events to take place. Current rentals - We currently rent the building to 3 dance groups and would be happy to have more groups on a weekly basis. We also have Friendsgiving, birthday parties, wedding showers, baby showers, etc. New members - Two new members will be welcomed at our meeting next month. We are very pleased to have new members and new ideas. State session - The Simsbury grange proposed 5 resolutions at the state session in Norwich last month and are pleased to report that 4 of them went forward! Community service

-   Members attending the meeting reported 95 hours of community service in October. Programming

-   currently looking into several possibilities to partner with our local library. MLK in Simsbury - a historical organization is researching Martin Luther King’s time in Simsbury during the summers of 1944 and 1947. We are eager to learn more about any time he may have spent at the Simsbury Grange.

Next meeting: December - (Date TBD at 7:00 pm) will be announced/ posted on our website soon as we’re working to find a day when a majority of members can attend.
