OCTOBER 15, 2023 -- We held elections at our July meeting. Congratulations to Hunter Coderre, who was elected as President. Congratulations, as well, to our other elected officers. Our 2023-24 officer team looks promising and has a few new faces!
Members Arilla and Lilly Bessette and Brianna Gervais have aged out. We will miss these girls but are excited to see what is in store for their future.
We had taken down 3 of our raised garden beds and rebuilt the 4th one. The one that was rebuilt is our pollinator bed. We purchased a small load of soil and filled in where the original garden beds were.
Our fair was in August, and we secured a dunk tank and paid for an additional animal program. The proceeds from the dunk tank were divided between our Grange, the Ronald McDonald House, and Canines for Disabled Kids.
The Juniors raised a total of $171.00 at our Grange Fair, with the dunk tank. Plus, they had a grand time being dunked!! The children have asked that we do the dunk tank again! $42.75 was donated to each charity: the Ronald McDonald House and Canines for Disabled Kids, the balance raised went towards the cost of the dunk tank.
“Animal Friends’’ was a program put on by the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center. The Nature Center rescues injured animals, releasing those who can live in the wild, and utilizing those unable to return to the wild as ‘ambassadors”. The instructor educated attendees on ways to help protect local wildlife and shared how they lived; what they needed to be safe. The indigenous animal that she brought included a turtle, a snake, and an owl.
Installation will be held in Sept. We are anticipating an active fall. We would enjoy having visitors, should anyone care to attend.
