President's Message
President’s Message: Looking Ahead to October

By George Russell, CT State Grange President

  July 3, 2022 --

I hope you all had a great Independence Day or Fourth of July.  By the time you receive this report, we have already celebrated but I hope you had a great day with family and friends. I know many Granges had floats or marched in their community parades. It’s a good way to get your Grange name out into the community.

Our annual Connecticut State Grange Session is going to be held on October 20, 21 & 22 at the Holiday Inn in Norwich. I hope you save this date. Last year we had our Sessions Committees meet by Zoom a week or two before State Session. It seemed to have worked out well and I’m going to do it again this year. By doing the Session Committees ahead of time, it saves time on Thursday evening. This is an election year so it’s even more important to save time where we can. It is important if your Grange has resolutions, that you send it to the State Secretary, Todd Gelineau, so we’ll have it for the committees to work on in advance. The three Connecticut State

Pomona Granges have conferred the Fifth Degree for inspection. Unfortunately, there were no candidates. Also, the attendance for these Pomona Granges were disappointing.  We need to get out and support our Pomona Granges if we want them to survive. The Pomona Granges will be meeting at the end of August and beginning of September. Let’s get out and show our support.

Don’t forget to enter the Honor Grange of the Year.  I like to have them by September 15 so start working now. We only had one Grange last year that qualified for Honor Grange. Qualifications are in the Blue Book with three divisions: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Let’s go for the Gold!

To end this month’s report, I hope you all are having a great summer. Stay safe and healthy.
