Family Activities News: CT Grange Family Festival

By Dawn Percoski, Family Activities Director

  March 1, 2022 --

We have a new name for our contests, “CT Grange Family Festival”, along with new dates that seem to accommodate more Granges. We will hold it August 12 - 14th.  It will be a weekend event as we did last year.  Here is the breakdown of events.

Friday, August 12 we  will  be at the Hillstown Grange Hall waiting for people  to  bring  in their entrees between 3 and 6pm. Anyone who has entries can always make arrangements with a CFA committee member to pick  them up prior to that date. On Saturday morning we will allow time for those who could not bring them Friday to get the entries to us by 10:30 am. Judging will begin promptly at 11:00 am. We are currently looking for judges for the baking and theme contests as well as judges for the needlework. Please  contact  a CFA committee member if you are interested or send an email to cwa@ ctstategrange.org . We have a lot of fun and look forward to hearing from you.

Sunday, August  14th,  we urge you to come and sit with us for Breakfast. Hillstown will be putting on their wonderful Pancake Breakfast with a specialty pancake just for us, Pumpkin. Hillstown Grange is great with handling protocols for COVID and it will be nice to see people in person since a lot of Granges have gone back to zoom meetings or have not been able to meet at all. You will have the opportunity to look at all the hard work our Patrons have been doing over the winter months. Our new State Lecturer has  also  set up the photo contest to be held at the same time and place as our Needlework Contest. Stay tuned for more surprises to come from our State Lecturer! Yet another reason to come on out!

The teacup auction was such a hit that we will hold another one with the winners announced at the end of the breakfast. The money will be used to help support our committee.   It will also be a good time to bring your Big E donations. If you are coming to pick up your Grange’s entrees on Sunday, it’s a great time for you to bring them all in one trip.

One last item, if you can have everyone in your Grange, make just one item, imagine how much that would add up to! Have a craft day or select something easy and send out instructions on materials to collect and do a zoom meeting. The Big E always counts on our support! Stay Safe, spring is just around the corner!
