Agriculture / Conservation News: Adult & Junior Contests

By Irene Percoski, CT State Grange Agriculture Committee Member

  July 5, 2019 --

Juniors will have a chance to show their creativity by making a seed painting, using fruit and vegetable seeds. The picture can be anything you can imagine, a face, an animal, a building or a general scene. This is to be on poster board and no larger than 11”X14”.

The adult contest is to make an attractive Harvest table centerpiece. Size limited to 12”X12”X12”. No artificial fruits, vegetables or greenery allowed. These will be judged at State session and must be there before 9:00 p.m. on the first day of the session. Late entrees will be eliminated.

Our Pomona challenge is to nominate a Pomona member who has done the most to promote agriculture. Anyone can make a nomination giving a brief summary of what that person has done to earn the award. All nominations must be received by October 1, 2019. Send to J. Allen Cameron.

Start looking for that special person you think is the Outstanding Agricultural Professional and Outstanding Young Professional of the Year. You can find the requirements for both of these awards in the 2018 Blue book. The rules are the same today. All Nominations for these awards must be received by October 1, 2019. Send to J. Allen Cameron.
