Connecticut Grown Tents Available Soon

By Rick Macsuga, CT Department of Agriculture

  JANUARY 8, 2009 --

After many requests, the Connecticut Department of Agriculture has ordered 150 CT Grown tents. These eye-catching canopies are commonly seen at the 114 farmers’ markets and several roadside stands throughout the state.

These are commercial grade canopies, very similar to the canopies ordered in the past but a different manufacturer has won the bid for this current round. They measure 10 foot by 10 foot, come with a heavy duty, powder coated frame and a very attractive, water resistant, white canopy featuring the “CT Grown” logo. These adjustable canopies come with a convenient carrying case and a stake kit. The canopies are quick and easy to set up and also come with a manufacturer’s warranty. These tents have come in handy for all the farmers that have ordered them in the past and the department is excited to offer them again.
These canopies will be offered through a cost-share program. The funds being used towards this item are from the USDA-Specialty Crop Block grant. This particular grants goal is to increase the awareness and competitiveness of specialty crops. Connecticut farmers will be able to purchase them at half price with the Connecticut Department of Agriculture using grant money to cover the remainder of the cost.

The cost is $137.50 per tent. There is a four tent limit per farmer. When ordering, please include:

Name
Farm name
Address
Phone number
Email address
Number of tents requested

All tents will be picked up at a date to be determined at the Hartford Regional Market. Payment is due by the pick up date. In the past these have not lasted long, please contact us immediately to place your order.
