Kelley Friends celebrate 6 Years
JANUARY 2009 -- Dedicated to “preserving our past for generations to come,” the Friends of the Kelley Farm will note their sixth anniversary this spring.  This historical treasure, a National Landmark, is a 189 acre “living history 1850-1876 farm” located on the Mississippi River.  This is where Oliver, age 23, staked a claim in 1850 in this new Minnesota territory.  (Statehood would come in 1858).

The farm is now owned by the Minnesota Historical Society and the “Friends” were organized at a time when the farm closure was imminent.  The “Friends” have done an awesome job of providing encouragement, support, and creating programs for the homestead.

Annual memberships of the Friends are encouraged and you can share in their excitement about the past and future of the Kelley Farm.  Now is the time to join or renew since Brother Kelley’s birthday is January 7.

Single memberships are $24.00.  Family memberships $50.00.  Check their website:  wwwfriendsofthekelleyfarm.org.  Write:  F.O.T.K.F., 15788 Kelley Farm Rd., Elk River, MN  55330.
