Jim Foster elected National Chaplain |
|
OCTOBER 2008 -- The National Grange is pleased to announce the election of Jim Foster to the position of National Chaplain. Foster was elected by the National Grange Board of Directors at their board meeting in Lebanon, NJ tin September. The position has been vacant since the passing of Past National Chaplain John West. He will serve in the position up through the National Grange Convention in Cromwell, CT.
Jim Foster has been the West Virginia State Grange Master since 1998. He and his wife, Earlene, have been members of Oxford Grange #526 since 1984. Foster has also served as Subordinate Master, Pomona Master, State Steward, and State Overseer. Foster joined the United States Airforce in 1951 and served as an Air Transportation Superintendent. He and his wife have lived all around the world, specifically in Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, England, Dominican Republic, and numerous states within the U.S.A. He retired as an Airforce Senior Master Sergeant, and moved to West Virginia in 1975 to become a farmer, specializing in beef cattle. He is originally from Tennessee. In addition to Grange activities, Foster also serves as a member of the Masonic Order of Tennessee, Secretary of the WV Association of Conservation Districts, and has been the President of the Doddridge County Farm Bureau for over thirty years. He married Earlene in 1954, and have 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
