From The Chaplain's Desk
December 2007 Chaplain's Corner

By Amy Whitcomb, State Chaplain

DECEMBER 2007 -- As we enter this season of anticipation and new life with the birth of our Savior we are motivated to celebrate in some way.  We find ourselves looking for the diversity in the many religious traditions.

American society contains many persons and religions, let us all celebrate our diversity and make kindness a habit.  Recognition and celebration do not have to signify agreement.  Why not celebrate perspectives with which we disagree?  Of course, even the most inclusive attitude cannot celebrate every perspective.  I think this proposal would have positive consequences.

Every person in the Grange would begin to feel both special and appreciated, thereby defusing frustration and anger.  We would build self-esteem and good will toward other people would be generated.  Every day can be a celebration.

Best wishes to you and your family during this holiday season.
