Farming in Connecticut is certainly not dead as some may believe, it is only evolving.  Farming changes with the times.  We now have aqua farming using facilities that raise clams, fish and even lobster. 

In many towns throughout the state there are farmer’s markets that feature locally grown products sold from the farm/producer to the consumer.  Dairy Farms, like Mountain View Dairy, are getting larger and remain family owned. 

Did you know that Connecticut is home to the largest pheasant farm in New England? 

Large egg farms can be found in the towns of Franklin, Bozrah and other parts of eastern Connecticut. 

So, when you hear that farming is dead, tell them it’s changing with the times and is a whole lot more than dairy farming!
