Manchester Grange remembers Hans Fredericksen

Hans C. "Fritz" Fredericksen, 100, of Manchester, beloved husband of 40 years to the late Caroline (Rauchle) Fredericksen peacefully passed away Sunday, (March 13, 2011) at home.

Fritz was born on February 26, 1911 in Manchester son of the late Martin and Nettie (Jordt) Fredericksen and was raised on a farm on Highland St. He attended Highland Park School and was a graduate of Cheney Technical High School. In his early years he helped haul stones from the quarry in Bolton to build South United Methodist Church in Manchester. Prior to his retirement, Fritz was employed for over 45 years as a Machinist with Pratt & Whitney Small Tool in West Hartford.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Coventry and Manchester Grange. Fritz was a member of the Manchester Square Dance Club and he was an avid card player and fan of the UConn Women's Basketball Team.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Marsha A. Bradshaw of Manchester with whom he made his home, two grandsons, Gary Bradshaw and his wife, Dawn of Ellington and Paul Bradshaw and his wife, Deanna of Sorrento, FL, several nieces, nephews and his good friend, Edwina Grant of Manchester. In addition to his wife and parents Fritz was predeceased by his sister, Anna C. Fisher.

Fritz's family would like to extend a special thank you to his nurses, Mary and Jennifer and his caregiver Margaret for their wonderful care and compassion. He was a quiet and proud person whom will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 12 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 17 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Health Services Inc.
