Grangers remember Ruth Ippolito

Ruth Marie "Grammy" Ippolito, 88, of Country Lane, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 13, at 2011, at Apple Rehab in Watertown.

Ms. Ippolito was born in Waterbury on July 24, 1922, daughter of the late Steven and Helen (Hurley) Yarrington. She lived in Waterbury for most of her life before moving to Watertown in 2002. While growing up, she was a communicant of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Waterbury and then became an active member of Sacred Heart Church. She was a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society at Sacred Heart Church.

She was a Brownie leader and volunteered many years for the youth of Sacred Heart Grammar School. She was a custom corsetiére for many years with the Spirella Corset Co. serving Waterbury and retired from the Bristol Co. She was a longtime member of the Mad River Grange in Waterbury and loved knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughters, Denise M. Randis of Watertown and Marcia Collins of New Hampshire; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery is private and at the convenience of the family.
