Grangers remember State Grange Deputy Richard Kuhn

Richard D. Kuhn Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2011, at The Epoch of Harwich. Richard was born in Southampton, Mass., the son of the late Richard D. Kuhn Sr. and Florence (Stanford) Kuhn. He was the husband of the late Marion (Wallis) Kuhn.

Richard worked as a dairy farm manager in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. Later, he was an estate groundskeeper in Fairfield, Conn., until his retirement in 1988. Over the years, Richard was an active member of several different local granges, the Connecticut State Grange, the Prospect CT Senior Center and the Prospect Congregational Church.

Richard is survived by a son, Robert H. Kuhn and his wife, Nancy, of Harwich, Mass.; a daughter, Nancy K. Pretak and her husband, Robert, of New Hartford; two grandchildren, Robert P. Kuhn of Harwich, Mass., and Kristen L. Kuhn of South Yarmouth, Mass.; and three great-grandchildren. He leaves two sisters, Eleanor Butt of Davidson, N.C., and Marian Powers of Oak Park Heights, Minn. He also leaves his dear friend and companion, Inez Bramhall of Prospect.

Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery, Easthampton, Mass., at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on May 14 at Prospect Congregational Church.
