Manchester Grange remembers Mary Kuzmickas

Mary (Urasavich) Kuzmickas 97, of Manchester, wife of the late Alphonse Kuzmickas passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday (December 31, 2010) at Fenwood Manor in Manchester.

Mary lived a very active life and always gave more than she received. Mary was born in Worcester, MA, October 18, 1913 daughter of the late George and Mary (Kulvinskas) Urasavich and had resided with her family in Manchester since 1950. She was employed at Manchester Memorial Hospital for over 15 years and later was a volunteer in the maternity department for 17 years. Mary was a longtime Communicant of St. James Church in Manchester. She was a member of East Central Pomona Grange #3, the VFW Auxiliary, the Manchester Grange #31, the Daughters of Isabella, the Manchester Senior Citizen Center and a long time volunteer at Shepherd's Place in Manchester.

Mary is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Kuzmickas and his wife Lena Borodina of Kingwood,Texas, Peter and Cynthia Kuzmickas of Andover and Richard and Diane Kuzmickas of Manchester, 11 grandchildren and their spouses/partners; Ellen and Mark Pelletier,Tyler Kuzmickas, Alison Kuzmickas and Matt, Ryan Kuzmickas and Becky Hammond, Jennifer Kuzmickas and Brad Sharkey, Adriene Kuzmickas and Kert Jackson, Anson Kuzmickas, Kristen and Frank Guadagnino, Matthew Kuzmickas and JoAnn Ringer and Savannah, Christopher and Jonathan Kuzmickas and her first great-granddaughter, Freyja Helen Stark Kuzmickas. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, many good friends she made along the way and her very dear friend, Mary Byron of Manchester. In addition to her husband and parents Mary was predeceased by her brother, Peter Yoursavage and her sister, Ann Ernitz.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to ECHN Community Healthcare Foundation, 71 Haynes St. Manchester, CT 06040 (for the benefit of the MMH Auxiliary) or to St. James Church 896 Main St. Manchester, CT 06040. Holmes Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements.
