| DECEMBER 27, 2010 -- Fredonia Community Grange #1713 of Fredonia, MI, received second place recognition for its community service efforts in the 2010 National Grange Community Service Awards Program, which was presented during the 144th Annual Session of the National Grange held in November in Charlotte, NC.
Randy Nail is the Master of Fredonia Grange #1713 and it is 170 members strong. “Over 5,153 hours were contributed by both dedicated Grange members and many volunteers who assisted in our community service projects,” he says.
For 2010, Fredonia Community Grange engaged in 14 projects, which included Bluebird House, Agriculture Literacy Day, “Words for Thirds” dictionary project, Outdoor Safety Days, Family Night Out, Easter Egg Hunt, Relay for Life, Cruise to the Fountain, Fair Food Booth, and hosted several brunches. In addition, the women’s activities department had Sewing Ladies projects. Members also continued their Snack Program, as well as the Kallie Fraley Tournament. Fredonia Community Grange is known for its hard-working members who engage in countless projects aimed at making its community a better place.
Established in 1867, the National Grange is the oldest agricultural and rural community service organization and meets annually to confer the Seventh Degree (the highest Degree of the Order), to develop its legislative policy for the coming year, and to recognize the talents of its members.
