Margaret Evans, 88, enjoyed playing bingo

Margaret H. Evans, 88, of Danbury, formerly of Ridgefield, died Oct. 23, 2010, at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Elmer M. Evans,

Mrs. Evans was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Keil, Germany, daughter of the late Otto and Amanda (Nicholson) Seeman.

A longtime member of the Ridgefield community, she was a member of the Ridgefield Grange and the Ridgefield Homemakers, and was a charter member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Evans enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and keeping in touch with her many friends. She loved cats.

Mrs. Evans is survived by three sons, Elmer O. Evans, and his wife, Lennie, of Gaylordsville, Ronald Evans, and his companion, Donna Aufiero, of Danbury, and Mark Evans, and his wife, Susan VanKley, of Chicago; three grandsons, Joseph, William and Ronald Evans; four great-grandchildren, Brendan, Kendall, David and William; and several nieces and a nephew.

A memorial service will be held today (Friday) at 11 a.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. Burial of cremains will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home between 10 and 11 a.m.
