Winchester Grange mourns loss of Robert Jasmin

Robert E. Jasmin, 80, died July 17, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Patricia (Sorel) Jasmin for 50 years.

Born Dec. 8, 1928, in Colebrook, he was a son of the late Lillian (Hart) and Isadore Jasmin. He lived his entire life in Colebrook. He played softball and enjoyed bowling, farming and gardening. He was a member of the Winsted Red Men and the Winchester Grange, receiving his 50-year Golden Sheaf Certificate. He received the Public Service award for more than 25 years of service. He served as the second selectman for the town of Colebrook in the 1970s and retired from the town of Colebrook Highway Department.

In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by his sons, Robert Jasmin Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Colebrook and William Jasmin and his wife, Corrine, of Colebrook; his daughter, Joanne Jasmin of Pleasant Valley; four brothers, Isadore Jasmin Jr. of Colebrook, Louis Jasmin Sr. of Colebrook, Albert Jasmin of Winsted, and Francis Jasmin of Colebrook; two sisters, Kathryn Doty of New Hartford and Marie Kostak of Cape Cod; grandchildren, Robert III, Peter, Wil Jr., Joshua, Clayton, Ashley, Aden and Jasmine Blosser; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Jasmin.

A Mass of Christian burial was held July 22 at St. Joseph's Church, Winsted. Burial was private at Colebrook Center Cemetery.
