APRIL 12, 2007 -- Vincent D. Johnson, 83, of Cornwall Bridge Road, died April 6, 2007, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Sharon, the son of the late Anna (Dzatko) and Michael Johnson.
He was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School. He was a farmer for many years in Ellsworth, and lived on the family farm for most of his life.
He also was a life member of the National FFA Alumni Association.He was the first assistant fire chief with the Sharon Fire Department based in Ellsworth and served there since 1957. He was a longtime member of the Taghhannuck Grange, and was a member of the Montgomery Lodge F & AM for 54 years. He was a square dance caller, a school bus driver, and drove for Arnoff Limousine Service for many years.
Mr. Johnson is survived by two brothers, Ronald Johnson and Paul Johnson, both of Sharon; a sister, Juliette Johnson of West Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at the Ellsworth Cemetery. The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon was in charge of arrangements.
