Taghhannuck Grange believes in having events in our Grange Hall as that promotes Grange membership. We held a successful Craft Night, open house, where both members and non-members decorated picture frames to be taken to and displayed at State Grange Session in October. The Farm School Committee held a “Spring Open House” with an information and skill sharing session on saving seeds for home gardeners. Grange members and others demonstrated how to save seeds from bush beans, corn, tomatoes, house plants, herbs, nasturtiums, and more... with actual plants and fruit. Learning what types of seeds breed true and why we choose to save our own varieties of seeds!
Ted Powell attended our March meeting on short notice; during this visit, he did not encounter any wildlife such as bears, deer, raccoons, or elk on the roads. He spoke about growing the Grange, bringing Resolutions to State Grange and nominations for teachers, firemen and policeman recognition at State Session. Sharon Kroger is putting together a Resolution on “bees” which we will take to Pomona to be approved before State Session. We will talk about the nominations at our April meeting.
If you are beginning to collect for our Rummage Sale, we thank you. We do not accept furniture or electronics, and everything must be clean and in working order.
