We learned all about bees at our July meeting. How important they are for agriculture and how they live and have managed to survive throughout history. Cherie passed out Bee Flour balls for all to take home and spread around. It will be interesting how well they work.

Society today is a wasteful one. We see trash along the roads, our rivers and streams are polluted with all kinds of junk and plastic. Everyone uses disposable one-time use plastic bags. Everyone is urged to bring re- useable bags when shopping. Now Vernon Grange is trying, in a small way, to do more by asking each of us to bring their own plates, cups and utensils to the pot-luck picnic. Hot dogs and buns are provided. Members are asked to bring a side dish, preferably home -made. This is a roll-back to previous times when it was the normal thing to do before disposable plates and cups. Who knows? Maybe it will start a trend for other Granges to take up. Nancy will have Grange table set up at Farm Day. Come and try a craft.
