Around The Grange
Dec 2020 Musings from Winchester Grange

By Todd Gelineau

  DECEMBER 5, 2020 --

Dec. 8:   Meeting on Zoom, 7:00 P.M. Please contact Sue Addison or contact Todd at secretary@ctstategrange.org to receive the information needed to log on to Zoom.

At our last Zoom meeting, the results of the mail-in election were read by the Secretary and Craig Leifert was elected to serve as Master of Winchester Grange for the 2020- 2021 Grange year. Congratulations to Craig and all of the newly elected officers of the Grange.

Back in July, Winchester Grange voted to pass on the opportunity to take on the sale of the Eureka Grange Hall in New Hartford. At the end of the day, it was determined there was great risk to assuming responsibility for this hall should it not sell immediately. As it turns out it has not sold… yet. The Connecticut State Grange is now in the process of taking over the property and listing it for sale. With this in progress, the members of Eureka Grange will be released on demits that they can take to any Grange of their choice to continue their Grange journeys. Because Winchester and Eureka did not complete a merger, this is the only way of handling the members of Eureka. It is hoped most, if not all, will take their memberships to Winchester Grange where they will be welcomed with open arms (well… not actually until social distancing requirements are relaxed!!). The members of Winchester Grange did vote to welcome any and all members of Eureka who wish to come over to our Grange.

Happy Holidays to all and see you on Zoom!
