Around The Grange
July 2020 News from Taghhannuck Grange No. 100

By Barbara Prindle

  July 6, 2020 --

July 9: Our meeting will again be a virtual meeting on Zoom.

On June 6 we had a very successful plant sale. There was no set time advertised, just Sat. & Sun. Our first customer came at 6:30 A.M. and we put it on the honor system and just checked the cash box (a slot in an actual wooden box) every hour or so to remove the money.  We had it on the honor system Sunday and closed at noon. The flowers sold out and we donated just over 100 vegetable plants to the Cornwall Food Pantry for people to put in their gardens. The best part was we talked to people about our Grange and got two applications to join.

On our regular meeting night of June 11 we held our second virtual meeting on Zoom for election of officers.   After not being able to attend our virtual meeting in May three of our members, all in their 90s learned how to use Zoom and were there to vote. So you are never too old to learn new things. The following officers were elected for two years: Master, Barbara  Prindle;  Overseer, Diane Palmer; Lecturer, Carol Knutson; Steward, Mike Taylor; LAS, Ruth Schnell; Chaplain, Debra Tyler; Treasurer, Brent Prindle; Secretary, Debbie Hanlon; Gatekeeper, Sharon Kroeger; Ceres, Barbara Bartram; Pomona, Barbara Rosenfeld; Flora, Millie Massey; Exec. Comm. (3 yrs) Harvey Hayden.

We have a Facebook page, “Taghhannuck Grange No. 100” and invite you to visit it and like our page. Meanwhile, stay safe and healthy.
