Around The Grange
September 2018 News from Beacon Valley Grange No. 103

By Joanne Cipriano

  September 13, 2018 --

Our members have been very busy even during the hot weather. We had a tag sale at the Grange and a bake sale at WalMart in June. Both with a good profit.

In July we had our officers planning meeting, participated in the Pomona picnic, had our monthly open mic and had a card night.

So far in August we had our picnic, an open mic and an information table at Naugatuck’s Meet and Greet Day. The town has been holding one of these every quarter. Our first one was on one of the coldest days and this one was probably one of the hottest days so far this year. It was much too hot to either meet or greet.

For the end of the month we will have a card night. Now for September – September 14 will be our regular meeting, September 15th we will have a tag sale and open mic. And September 16th we will be attending the Nutmeg Pomona meeting and on September 28-30 we are having a clothing and household item collection. Friday and Saturday from 9 to 5 and Sunday 9 to 12. Volunteers to be at the Grange to accept items will be appreciated. We could also use your donation of clothes and other items.

Keeping busy is keeping us young, so come and help and see how young you feel.

Our Grange was saddened by the death of Sister Mary Pranulis. Mary was a 73 year member and Past Master. She was meticulous with sewing and organized the Quilting Group which met for many years at the Grange. Her talent is missed.
