Around The Grange
Contests, Hay Rides and more at Simsbury Grange Ag Fair Sept. 15
  SEPTEMBER 10, 2018 --

Simsbury Grange will host its annual Agricultural Fair on Saturday, September 15th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Fair will feature a bake sale, vendors, exhibits from civic organizations and farms, games, demos, a bargain basement, and contests with ribbons and cash prizes. The Old Well Tavern will be on site serving food and there will be additional refreshments. Entry is free and the first 100 attendees will receive a special welcome bag.

Featured activities include hay rides by Flamig Farm, children’s activities sponsored by The Children’s Clubhouse, a silent auction, original music by Northwest CT Idol Bill Benson, a live Zumba demo – and, new this year – a Simsbury Grange-exclusive: a life-sized game of "Pub Skittles." Anyone under 13 can accumulate stamps for a free game or a hayride through the fields of West Simsbury. Non-profits are welcome to a free table (attended or display) and all vendor tables are $25.

Contests with ribbons and cash prizes include adult and children’s categories such as fruits and vegetables, canned, jammed and pickled produce, needlework (all types, made in the past year), flowers and plants, and baked goods. This year the recipe eligible to qualify at the Grange and advance to the state level is Cross Bones Cookies. Children are welcome to enter original Lego Creations (up to 12” x 12”) and 2-dimensional original art and photographs made in the past year.

Details and an on-line entry form can be found at www.simsburygrange.org. Entries to all contests can be brought to the Simsbury Grange, 236 Farms Village Rd. West Simsbury from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday  September 14th (preferred) or, if preregistered, can be brought to the Grange the morning of the fair between 8:00 and 8:30 AM.  All entries must be fully  registered and in place by 8:45 am - the Grange is closed from 9 am to 10 am for judging
