By Frank Forrest

  AUGUST 17, 2018 --

Hillstown Grange's 130th Annual Agricultural Fair will be held on Saturday, September 15, from 10 am to 2 pm at Hillstown Grange Hall, 617 Hills Street, East Hartford, CT.

Craft people, artists, gardeners, and cooks of all ages are encouraged to enter their best items to be judged for our fair.  Judged items may be awarded ribbons and cash prizes. All entries must be brought to the Grange Hall on Thursday, September 13 between 5 and 7 pm. and picked up at 2 pm on Saturday, September 15.

Garden categories include vegetables, fruit, flowers, and our special "Pink Pumpkin Contest".  There is an adult and youth level.  Please see our entry form for number of items needed to enter.

Kitchen categories include baked goods, canned goods, jellies and jams.  We are the only local fair in the area for entries in the Connecticut State Fairs competitions and we had one winner go all the way to win the State title of 'best apple pie'.  Both the local level at our fair and the State level are open to all with adult and youth categories.

Crafts, hobbies, and photos can be entered in adult and youth levels.

Lunch with our famous hot dogs and hamburgers with peppers and onions will be available from 11 am to 1 pm.  The bake sale usually runs out of pies by 1 pm, so get here early to purchase a homemade pie.  Raffle drawing numbers will be pulled at 2:00 pm.  A farmer’s market will be held outside weather permitting.

Hillstown Grange Fair is the area's only Agricultural Fair, serving the towns of East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Manchester for 130 years. Come and feel the history.
