JUNE 18, 2015 -- Our Monday, April 13th meeting was attended by several special guests. Our State Master/President, Noel T. Miller, Jim Palmer, Deputy Pomona East, and Pat Palmer. As always, we welcomed Lois Evankow, Flora of East Central Pomona, and Ted Beebe, State Membership. We also were pleased to have in attendance Hank the Burro, he was very quiet and well behaved, the perfect guest.
Our community service activities continue with our Bingo at Apple Rehab, and cooking with the Grange at Harrington Court facilities. We also donated several bags of plastic containers and food items to the soup kitchen in Willimantic, where our members volunteer time. A special thank you to all that volunteer many hours to this charity.
Chris Bourque advised us of a meeting of 5 towns in the Colchester area to discuss a farm to school program, with a food hub in Colchester to process fruits and vegetables for school systems in Colchester and surrounding towns. Also, an agriculture education program will be introduced to schools by the Agriculture Education Council.
We received a thank you for the 18 Easter Baskets that were donated in co-ordination with the Veterans Ladies Auxiliary to our Veterans project in Jewett City. Each basket held items for a complete Easter themed dinner for all 18 Veterans and were greatly appreciated.
Our Charter was draped in honor of two members who we recently lost; Joann Riddell and Barbara Ella Smith-Clark. We extend our condolences to both families.
Please don’t forget to check with our CWA representative Cathy Russi regarding upcoming trips for Grange members and anyone that likes to travel.
Looks like it’s finally Spring so hope everyone can get out there and enjoy the warmer weather. |
