Around The Grange
January 2015 News from Colchester Grange

By Bonnie Trecarten

  JANUARY 17, 2015 --

Colchester Grange welcomed two guests at our December 8th meeting.  Lois Evankow, Flora, East Central Pomona, and Lecturer, Lyme Grange and Ted Beebe, State Membership, and  Master, Norwich Grange.  We also welcomed visitor and potential new member Charles Csere.

Our Veterans project is in full swing with many donations of clothing, bedding, towels and gift cards going to the Veterans for the Holidays. Other community organizations are assisting us in this worthwhile project.  All donations will be delivered before the Christmas Holiday.

Lois Evankow  presented all members with blank cards to write holiday wishes and thanks to our Veterans currently in service.  Notes were written by all and they were given back to Lois to be sent to veterans for the Holidays.

We continue with our food bank provisioning donations and volunteering at Harrington Court facility for cooking projects with the residents.

We have included a picture of the Haitian family receiving the goat that has been donated to the Haitian Health Foundation Goat Project by our Grange.  We have named the Goat “Watson” in honor of our Master, Jeff Watson.  We received a thank you letter from the Haitian Foundation in appreciation for our donation.

For all the travelers out there Cathy Russi our CWA committee Chair has put together two more great vacation options for 2015. The first is “American Cities” which will include Nashville, Tennessee, Memphis Tennessee, and New Orleans, Lousianna. All  famous music destinations.  October 16 thru Oct 23rd, 2015.

The second trip is to the Panama Canal for March 2016, details will follow as soon as all is arranged.  Hoping all have a happy  Holiday Season and a healthy new year!
