| JUNE 2, 2014 -- April: The Bridgewater Grange used our hall for the first time in 2014 for a regular meeting on Wednesday April 16th. Earlier in the week we delivered Easter flowers to shut-ins and nursing home residents. On April 19th we had our annual Easter Egg hunt. We had a spring cleaning of the hall on Wed April 23. On Friday April 25th we had our Community Service Award and pot luck supper. The award went to Rev Peter Hammond and his wife Kim Gellaty. They belong to the Bridgewater Congregational Church and run the town food pantry.
May: The Bridgewater Grange had a very successful Roast Beef Dinner on Saturday May 10th. We served approximately 100 dinners. Afterwards there was a hootenanny with Jeff Case and Friends featuring noted banjo player Roger Sprung. We had our regular monthly meeting on Wed May 14th. We have decided for various reasons to have only two roast beef dinners instead of four. Our next one will be on Saturday Sept 13th. At the meeting we welcomed two new members Graham Baldwin and Riva Martin. They are a young couple who run the Sullivan Farm in New Milford which is a non profit organization sponsored by the town.
On Monday March 26th we had nine of our members along with State Representative Arthur O'Neill march in the Bridgewater Memorial Day parade. Later that day some of our members participated in the New Milford Memorial Day parade including pushing wheel chair residents from the Village Crest Nursing Home to the parade and back.
June: We have a very busy schedule for June. June 4th we will have a special meeting for planning. The big topic will be public seminar on genetically modified organisms ( GMOs) as well as speakers talking about local farming. We hope to have this big meeting open to the public in late June. We will have a practice meeting on June 10th in preparation for our regular meeting on June 11th. On June 18th we will host the Excelsior Pomona Grange meeting. |
