North Stonington Community Grange News for March

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  MARCH 7, 2014 --

We are sad to report the loss of another of our Golden Sheaf members.  Perry Bill passed away on Jan. 19th.

Our hall boasts new flooring and fresh paint in the kitchen and old men’s room.  Many thanks to all who helped with this huge project; but a special thanks to Flo Mullane, who headed up the project and did lots of the work, and her husband, Nick, who painted the men’s room (including the ceiling) all on his own.

We were all fascinated by Terri Guerette’s program on silk weaving on Jan. 10.  She showed us the process from cocoon to beautiful, finished knitted shawl.

Our March 14 program will be a surprise; but on the 28th our Lecturer will present her State program, “Three Cheers for the USA.”  This is one not to be missed.  Sue has a habit of coming in first in the state with her State Lecturer’s programs.  And if that lovely, fluffy, white stuff that seems to keep dropping from the sky will just give us a break for a few weeks, next time I’ll tell you all about fabulous February.

Mar. 14:  “Pay the Piper”

Mar. 28:  “To Stick to One’s Guns”
