Cannon Grange July News Update

By Don Offinger

  JULY 3, 2013 --

Looking ahead, we will have our annual Agricultural Fair on Sunday, August 18th this summer.   The inside of our Hall will be decked out with the judged exhibits of baked goods, flowers and vegetables, sewing and hand crafts, photography and eggs.  We’ll have a large contingent of selected concessionaires outside.  We’ll have all types of pizza available to purchase for lunch, as well as ice creams and fruits for desserts.  Admission is free this year, so we hope to see many Grangers in attendance.

We were very happy to host Fairfield Co. Pomona Grange for a dairy supper back in June.  We’ll hope for a different menu next year where Pomona members can really show their cooking skills.

As mentioned previously, our new AED is on-station in our Hall.  We join the churches, schools, and YMCA in town to make our community a Heart-Safe Community.  To our knowledge, we are also the only Grange in Connecticut that has an AED in the Hall; and perhaps we are the only Grange Hall in the nation with an AED.  We highly recommend all Grange Halls have an AED onsite in case of an emergency with cardiac arrest.

Please note our meeting and picnic schedule for the summer.  Visiting Patrons are always welcome.
