Around The Grange
Winchester Grange June Musings

By Todd Gelineau, Winchester Grange President

  JUNE 8, 2013 --

It continues to be busy at Winchester Grange.  Our spring tag sale was held on May 25 with pouring rain outside and a decent amount of shoppers inside.

Next up will be our annual Strawberry Festival at the hall on Father’s Day (June 16).  The event, as always, is coordinated with the annual Laurel Festival held in Winsted the weekend prior to the Strawberry Festival.  The Laurel Queen will make and official visit and, if custom holds, will help serve Strawberry Shortcake to the hungry masses.  The drive up to Winchester Center is always enjoyable and the portions of shortcake never disappoint.  Join us!  Call (860) 626-0326 for more information.

We were recently contacted by Gerri Griswold (known locally as the traffic reporter on WZBG and as the “Bat Lady” for her love of the creatures and the lectures she presents on the subject).  Due to a scheduling conflict at the White Memorial in Litchfield, she needed a new venue for her Iceland event.  Join us on Saturday, July 20 the Grange Hall and the green will be turned into Iceland for the day featuring food, lectures, customs, and farm animals!  It promises to be a very interesting and fun day in the Center.
