Winchester Grange March Musings

By Todd Gelineau, Winchester Grange President

  MARCH 8, 2013 --

Winchester Grange is planning a flurry of events in celebration of our 125th Anniversary and Grange Month.  DINNERS ARE BACK AT WINCHESTER GRANGE!  Our first foray back into the dinner business is a Roast Pork Loin Dinner prepared by our Chef Wayne Hurlbut.  Side dishes will include mashed red potatoes, salad, bread, and dessert.  Anyone who has enjoyed Wayne’s cooking before will not want to miss this meal.  Serving will begin at 5 P.M.  Please call Todd Gelineau at 860-626-0326 or email at info@winchestergrange.org to reserve your seats.

Also coming up is our annual Cabin Fever Craft & Bake Sale at the hall on Saturday, March 30 from 9 to 2.  The tables are nearing sell-out, but there’s still a little time to get in if you would like a table.  Call or email (listed above) to find out more.

Looking into April, we are planning two very special events in celebration of our 125th Anniversary.  The first is the Anniversary Celebration to be held at the Hall on Sunday, April 14, 2013 beginning at 2 P.M.  There will be special entertainment, speakers, a special skit from the Marion Beecher archives and a special look back at Winchester Grange through the years.  ALL MEMBERS from across the Pomona and State are welcome to join us as we celebrate this special milestone.

A new Winchester Grange cookbook is in the planning stages and within the first couple of weeks of collection, we have already received well over 100 recipes-- keep them coming.  We can use any and all recipes-- they can be your own or a favorite recipe you have “acquired” from elsewhere!  You can send them to our Lecrturer Ramona Fassio or send them to the Master at the contact info above.

An Anniverary Calendar has also been printed and is available for a donation to the Grange treasury.  Contact the Master to get your calendar.

The next weekend (Sat., Apr. 20) will be the kick-off of our drive to re-organize Winchester Jr. Grange #32.  We will hold an open house to welcome children (and parents) from the greater Winchester Center area interested in being a part of the new Winchester Junior Grange.  Children and grandchildren from neighboring/area Granges are also welcome to join us as we plan to have a Junior Grange that will serve Mountain County as well as Winchester Center.  Leader Nichole Miller is planning a fun and informative afternoon-- so please join us, we expect this event to begin at 2 P.M.

Our Spring Super Prize Party is planned in early May and our Spring Tag Sale is planned for later in the month.
