| AUGUST 12, 2011 -- On Sunday, July 10th, a friends and relatives of Virginia “Ginny” Smith (Taghhannuck Grange #100) gathered at the Methodist Church in New Milford to celebrate Virginia’s 85th birthday.
The program was a mixture of music and humor and memories by various people present of Ginny’s involvement in the community, of her work in the history of the Merwinsville Hotel (in which she lived in her childhood) of her dedication to the Gaylordsville Methodist Church.
A highlight of the afternoon was when Amy Whitcomb, Chaplain of the Connecticut State Grange, spoke of Ginny’s many years of involvement in the Grange from Junior Grange right up to the State level and presented her with a seal of recognition for 60 years of continuous membership in the Grange. |
