National Outstanding Young Farmer from Wallingford

The U.S. Junior Chamber, John Deere, the Outstanding Farmers of America Fraternity, and the National Association of County Agricultural Agents are pleased to announce that Joseph Geremia of Wallingford, CT has been selected as one of ten National Outstanding Young Farmers for the year 2011.

The National Outstanding Young Farmer (NOYF) Program has been sponsored by John Deere for the last 35 years, administered by The U.S. Junior Chamber, and supported by the Outstanding Farmers of America Fraternity and the National Association of County Agricultural Agents. The NOYF Program has recognized farmers for their outstanding achievements in agriculture for the past 55 years.

The NOYF Awards Ceremony will be held, February 17-20, 2011 at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. Finalists are selected through an extensive judging process, a panel of judges independently selects the top 25 semi-finalists, upon completion of a more extensive form, and the semi-finalists are independently judged selecting the top ten finalists. These finalists are interviewed onsite and the top four will receive the honor as being named National Winners and receive a cash reward from John Deere along with a trip to Washington, D.C. during Ag Week the following year. All the finalists receive an all-expense paid trip for themselves and his/her spouse to the National Awards Congress where they’ll participate in a four-day event which includes Educational Speakers, Tours, and the weekend culminates with a formal Awards Banquet and Ceremony and the naming of the four National Winners for 2011.

About the United States Junior Chamber

The United States Junior Chamber (JCs or more commonly Jaycees) is a leadership training and civic organization for people between the ages of 18 and 41. Areas of emphasis are business development, management skills, individual training, community service, and international connections.

Established January 21, 1920, the United States Junior Chamber was started to provide opportunities for young men and woman to develop per- sonal and leadership skills through service to others.
