| JANUARY 14, 2011 -- VFW Post 7659 and its Ladies Auxiliary is holding a pre-Valentine’s day event with Hillstown Grange to support our soldiers. A donation of 1,500 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and 60 cases of Boy Scout popcorn will be sent to members of the military in time for Valentine’s Day. Valentine cards and letters are needed to add to the boxes.
The packing event will be held on January 16 at the Hillstown Grange, 617 Hills St. in East Hartford (snow date is Jan. 23). Help is needed to sort and pack the cookies from noon to 3 PM. Hillstown Grange will provide refreshments.
Schools, Girl Scout troops, Boy Scout packs and church youth groups are asked to make up Valentine cards and send or bring them to this event before 2 PM. In addition, a Valentine party is being planned for February 13. More information will be available on January 16.
