Around The Grange
Dec 2020 News from Beacon Valley Grange No. 103

By Joanne Cipriano

  DECEMBER 12, 2020 --

Beacon Valley members were happy to be able to meet in October and had planned for our November meeting. Unfortunately, this meeting had to be canceled because Naugautuck is a red zone.

We received a letter from Prospect Grange asking us if they could merge with us. In calling our members to postpone the November meeting, we asked for their opinion- it was unanimous we welcome them. We would like to have a welcoming ceremony. Only God knows when we can schedule it. Our crystal ball is blank.

Joanne Cipriano, Master, was our State Session delegate on Zoom and placed first for her entry in the Essay Contest, “My Grange”. (Editor: The essay is printed in the State Lecturer’s column in this issue).

To all bargain hunters, I have a couple (1) the raffle barrel used at the Connecticut Agricultural Fair

A.  an electric stapler with 15,000 staples and a small Hammond organ. All just for the taking.

With  sadness  we  report  the passing of Robert Burns, a 77 year member of Beacon Valley Grange. Bob proudly served in the Navy during World War II and was a Burgess in Naugatuck for 46 years. Bob was the person who made sure we had an article in the Granger each month. If not, he reminded me of it.   I have lost my Connecticut Granger guardian angel and a great friend.

As he enters the Great Grange Above, we say “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
