Around The Grange
October 2019 News from Taghhannuck Grange No. 100

By Barbara Prindle

  October 3, 2019 --

Reminder for visitors that Taghhannuck’s meetings start at 7:30 for the winter months beginning in October.

September was a very busy month for Taghhannuck Grange members. On August 31st we held a Seed Saving Workshop open to the public and we had a very good showing with a lot of interaction between the Grange members and the audience. We also got 4 names of people who wanted more information on our Grange.

On September 14th we had our exhibit at the Cornwall Agricultural Fair. The theme under the two tents was “photos” with member contributed pictures of Grange events and Grangers. We also had gigantic bubbles and free “nibbles” to attract visitors to our display. The hope was to get new members and we again had the Grange poster “Want to know More?” which has worked well in getting names, addresses and emails.

September 26th was our Awards Dinner with six members getting awards.

October is an even busier month for our Grange.

On October 5th we have 5 members taking the 5th Degree at the Degree Day Festival put on by the Dutchess County Pomona #32.

On October 6th we will have a “Photos” display in Canaan, CT at Freunds Open Farm Tours. This will follow the Cornwall Ag. Fair format.

Oct. 10th regular meeting is the Ritual program. It pays to go up into the attic. We found beautiful linen scarves for our stations that were over 55 years old and will use them that night.

We have two delegates and one member going to State Session and at least 2 members taking the 6th degree there. I hope to see some of you there.
