By Hank the Burro, CT State Grange Mascot

  JANUARY 25, 2019 --

The holidays are over, but you are still craving something sweet, yet warm and comforting to indulge in. Betty Crocker has an easy to make Bread Pudding that is not only yummy, but perfect for that next potluck at Grange.

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups milk

  1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup butter or margarine

6 cups soft bread cubes (about 6 slices bread)

2 eggs, slightly beaten

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup raisins, if desired

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg

Whipping (heavy) cream, if desired

DIRECTIONS:

Heat oven to 350˚F. In 2-quart saucepan, heat milk and butter over medium heat until butter is melted and milk is hot. In large bowl, mix eggs, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Stir in bread cubes and raisins. Stir in milk mixture. Pour into ungreased deep round pan. Bake uncovered 40 to 45 minutes or until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean. Serve warm with whipping cream.
