| FEBRUARY 2, 2011 -- Do you remember: Alfred Beckwith?
Nobody called him Alfred – he was Al to everyone. State Master in 1962 and unlike many State Masters with long memberships, Al received his Silver Star for 25 years while State Master! Master of Obwebetuck, he did a great deal of work in those 25 years. Friendly, affable, quiet in most instances, Al played an instrument in his “band.” What did he play? Drums!!! It always made me smile– this quiet man and his drums. The Beckwith Band did a lot of entertaining in their area.
Al worked hard in the building of Camp Berger and the Caretaker’s Cottage bears a plaque- built and donated by the Gret-Als- those who worked with Al and Gretchen Beckwith. Do remember them. |
